Poetry Reading—Kin: Rooted in Hope

Gather in the Community Gallery of MCHC’s civil rights exhibition, Passion & Purpose, for an evening of poetry reading and reflection with acclaimed author Carole Boston Weatherford. Hear recitations from her book Kin: Rooted in Hope, a powerful portrait of a Black family tree shaped by enslavement and freedom, rendered in searing poems and stunning art by Jeffery Boston Weatherford. A short Q&A will follow the reading. Light refreshments provided. Museum admission is free all day for Free First Thursday.
