Sustainable Fashion Discussion

Spectrum of Fashion Symposium

Moderated by Victoria Pass, PhD

What is “fast fashion” and why won’t our clothes today survive like those designed and worn by previous generations? Join the discussion on sustainable fashion, and find out how historical fashion can inform sustainable initiatives today. Local fashion leaders will discuss various topics, including efforts to reimagine a more regional textile economy and the global problems with fast fashion culture.

Victoria Pass moderates the conversation with her guests Valeska Populoh who teaches a number of courses in the Fiber and Foundation programs at the Maryland Institute College of Art and facilitates the Baltimore Natural Dye Initiative, Janice Wallace the editor-in-chief of Cultivons, Creative Director at The Fashion Parade and a founding member of DC Sustainable Fashion Collective, Caprece Ann Jackson, producer and creative director of “Anthrôp 8” a Fashion Documentary featuring 8-Bright Stars on Baltimore’s Sustainable Fashion Scene, and Allison Tolman, MCHC’s Vice President of Collections & Interpretation for a stimulating community discussion.

This virtual program is free and open to all audiences. Registration is required. After registering for the program, attendees will receive an automated confirmation email with connection instructions.
