Portrait of James McHenry

Description

Engraved portrait of Scotch-Irish American statesman and military surgeon James McHenry (1753-1816). McHenry was a Continental Congress delegate from Maryland and one of the signers of the United States Constitution. He served as United States Secretary of War (1796-1800) under Presidents George Washington and John Adams. Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, was named for him.
