Description

Red velvet evening coat embellished with bronze and olive green silk satin embroidery and cording. It features a plunging neckline, short puffed sleeves, and an open front.

Notes

First Lady Frances Folsom Cleveland (1864–1947) wore this 1890s coat. She later altered it in the 1900s by folding down its 1890s high collar to make a plunging neckline and letting the garment out at various seams.
