Flag

Description

A 4th regiment United States Colored Troops Civil War flag. The silk flag was made by the Colored Ladies of Baltimore and was carried in the 1864 Battle of New Market Heights, outside of Richmond, Virginia. Sergeant Major Christian Fleetwood seized this flag before bravely joining the battle. Fleetwood would eventually be awarded a Medal of Honor for his contributions to the war.
