Gown

Description

Cream silk organza gown embroidered with monkeys playing instruments, worn by Wallis Simpson (1896-1986), the Duchess of Windsor. The gown was part of Givenchy's Haute-couture collection from spring/summer 1954. The whimsical design was inspired by wallpaper seen by the designer at Les Hotels de Soubise et de Rohan-Strasbourg in France.
