A membership card stamped with the date 1/14/27 for W. Clinton Duffy to the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment. The association was founded in 1918 in an unsuccessful effort to prevent the passage of the eighteenth amendment; it grew in influence as opposition to prohibition spread and had over 700,000 members nationwide in 1926. Full transcription: The Association Against the Prohibition Amendment, Inc. / Suite 400, 1523 L. St. N. W., Washington, D. C. / This certifies that W. Clinton Duffy has been enrolled as a voting member of this association for a period of one year from the date appearing on the back hereof, the usual fee having been paid. / S. C.
