Baltimore: Through a Glass Brightly

Description

From creator Mimi Dietrich: "Mayor William Donald Schaefer of Baltimore sponsored a quilting contest in 1981. I was so excited and made this quilt specially for the contest. The design was inspired by a drawing in the Baltimore Sun. I also made it into a cross- stitch design. It was a challenge to find the solid colors for the quilt, and I had to dye some of the purple fabrics. It did not win a prize in the contest, but it did hang in the Rotunda of Baltimore City Hall. I never made another quilt for a competition. I decided to be a quilt teacher and share my knowledge of quilt-making, instead of competing"
