Lafayette Courts demolition

Description

From 1994 to 1996, the Baltimore City Life Museum sponsored a program for a small group of children, ages 10 through 15, who lived in Lafayette Courts and other public housing projects in the Jonestown neighborhood. Roland Freeman, a professional photographer, taught some of the children to shoot photographs and develop film. Given 35mm cameras of their own, the children then photographed their families, neighborhood, and homes beginning in the summer of 1994. This photograph was taken as a result of that project, and depicts the implosion of Lafeyette Courts, a public housing project consisting of six high-rise buildings. The building seen in the picture was located at Aisquith and Orleans streets.
