Chair

Description

Rococo Revival armchair used for the nominating convention of the 1844 Whig Party in Baltimore. It was commissioned by subscription as a present for candidate Senator Henry Clay of Kentucky. “J Needles/MFtr” is carved on the right arm support and “Jas Minifie/del. & carver” is carved on the left arm support.
