Oil on canvas painting of "Rebecca Myring Everette (Mrs. Thomas Everette) and her Children", 1818, by Joshua Johnson. In 1818, Mrs. Everette (1787-1833) commissioned Joshua Johnson (c. 1763-c. 1824), an important early American artist and African American to paint her family. She also commissioned Johnson to produce a copy of the portrait of her husband "Thomas Everette" (1771-1817) (1807) by Caleb Boyle (fl. 1800-1815). From Left to Right: Mary Augusta Everette (1812 - 1886), Rebecca Myring Everette (Mrs. Thomas Everette) (1787 - 1833), Rebecca Everette (1817 - 1835?), John Everette (1817 - 1833?), Thomas Everette (1807 - 1833), Joseph Myring Everette (1809 - 1909?). This is a rare large-scale portrait by Johnson.
