Badge

Description

Metal badge with "C.S. Detective", crossed flags, stars, on a shield shaped badge with shirt pin on the backside, ca. 1861-1865. The flag is a variation of the national flag of the Confederate States of America (1861-1865), which had eleven stars, representing eleven states from July through November 1861. Though a later variation included thirteen stars, there were only eleven states officially. Kentucky and Missouri had representation in the Confederate congress, but were never controlled or administered by the C.S.A.
