Elevation of the Back Front, Plan of the Lower Floor, No. 2

Description

An architectural elevation of the back and floor plan of the lower floor of the proposed United State Capitol Building. Made for the Capitol and White House Drawing Competition held by the United States Government in 1792. Elevation features a three-story building with a central pediment supported by six Corinthian columns. Floor plan includes a large central rectangular room flanked by two wings, each including three smaller rooms. Steps are seen marking the entrances and exits at each of the four sides of the building.
