His Eminence Cardinal Gibbons

Description

Three-quarter view half-length miniature portrait shows Cardinal James Gibbons (1834-1921) with short gray hair and wearing red vestment, white collar, red cap, and gold and jewel cross pendant. Cardinal Gibbons was famously opposed to women's suffrage, but after the passage of the 19th Amendment, urged women to uphold their civic duty and vote.
