Portrait of Dr. Chao-Ming Chen

Description

Portrait of Dr. Chao-Ming Chen (1880-1961), seated with scroll. A native of China, Dr. Chen came to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1920 and became an instructor in Chinese language and literature at Johns Hopkins University. A community leader and also an importer of Asian art objects, Dr. Chen lectured on the topic of Asian art for local organizations and exhibited at museums in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area.
