Grants Coordinator Summary The Maryland Center for History and Culture seeks a dynamic team member to join our growing Advancement Department as the Grants Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Grants & Government Affairs, this new position will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of approximately 40 proposals annually of existing and prospective funders from foundation, corporate, and government sources. This position is a storyteller integrating narratives and data to communicate the social impact of Maryland’s largest history museum and social studies education provider.The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and verbal communication skills with the capability to adapt content strategies for a variety of audiences and formats. We are looking for a team player invested in a collaborative writing process that helps experts in MCHC’s Collections, Education & Outreach, and Administration departments translate program needs into compelling proposals that connect MCHC priorities with funders’ philanthropic goals. MCHC utilizes a moves-management framework and the Salesforce database to advance donor prospects and track gifts. The new hire will be trained in these systems.In addition to primary fundraising duties, this position will provide auxiliary support to MCHC lobbying activities and administration of the Miller History Fund—a competitive re-granting program. Candidates with an academic background in one of MCHC’s primary mission areas who are interested in learning the business and development side of cultural work are strongly encouraged to apply. duties and responsibilities Proposal Development: Conduct research and leverage Board and committee networks to identify project-appropriate funding sources;Write project-specific and general support grant and sponsorships proposals and applications to prospective and renewing foundations, corporations, and government agencies;Gather and prepare all materials to accompany grant requests (financial data, bios, required forms, etc.);Track submitted proposals;Ensure grant compliance through the timely submission of reports. Advancement Communications: Collaborate with the Advancement Department to produce specific deliverables throughout the year such as the Annual Report; case statements; foundation and civic stewardship touchpoints, etc. Coordination of Re-granting Program: Assist Director in development of program guidelines, application, scoring, and promotional materials;Assist in administration of program, including: development and delivery of applicant workshops promoting program; answering applicant questions; design and maintenance of platform for receiving proposals; distribution of grant funds; acceptance and review of grantee reports, etc. qualifications and requirements BA or MA in field relevant to MCHC strongly preferred (humanities, social sciences, literature, art history, etc.)Demonstrated ability to produce complex written materials;Demonstrated self-starter and problem solver;Comfort with multi-tasking and managing multiple deadlines;Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites;Ability to develop and review project budgets;Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and maintain high productivity;Ability to work independently and as part of a close working team;Occasional ability to lift up to 50 lbs. needed and occasional travel and late nights required. This is a full time, salaried position with benefits. The salary range is $38,000- $42,000.
