Ashburton Area Association letter

Description

A letter to residents of Ashburton, a Baltimore, Maryland, neighborhood, from the community association the Ashburton Area Association, Inc. It was two years before this 1958 letter when an African American high school principal became the first African American to move in to what was, at that time, the all-white Ashburton. In the face of white flight and blockbusting tactics within the city, the letter acknowledges the changing demographics of the neighborhood and urges white residents to stay.
