Baltimore Album Quilt

Description

Cotton applique with inked inscriptions, made for David Henry Crowl by his mother, Susanna Hiss Crowl, sisters Martha and Elizabeth, and female cousins. This is a "freedom quilt" made to celebrate David's twenty first birthday and the completion of his apprenticeship in a marine-related trade.
