Belted cotton dress

Description

Playful cotton dress designed by Claire McCardell (1905-1958) for the label 'Claire McCardell Clothes by Townley.' McCardell believed that every piece, from a shirtwaist dress to elegant eveningwear should feature deep, useful pockets; this dress included. The striped citrus colored fabric, cut on the bias, is pieced together to create a new chevron inspired pattern emphasizing the shape of the dress.
