Cap Pouch

Description

Black leather cap pouch, larger flap attached with brass stud at the bottom, smaller inner flap within, two belt loops on the backside. This pattern was used during the Civil War (1861-1865). It held the brass percussion caps that were used as the ignition sources for Springfield and Enfield rifles and used by both Union and Confederate soldiers.
