Claire McCardell with her brother

Description

Fashion designer Claire McCardell (1905-1958) as a child next to her brother Adrian (1908-2002) in a baby carriage. The children were born in Frederick, Maryland to Eleanor (1880-1968) and Adrian McCardell (1873-1945), who was a state senator and president of the Frederick County National Bank. Claire McCardell pioneered the creation of casual, comfortable American sportswear for women.
