Comitia Americana Silver Medal

Description

Comitia Americana silver medal presented on March 9, 1781 to John Eager Howard (1752-1827) by the 2nd Continental Congress in recognition for his bravery and leadership at the victory at the Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina, January 17, 1781. Image on medal shows a man in military uniform on horseback holding a sword in his raised hand, immediately behind a figure running and holding a large flag while looking backwards. An angel holding a feather and a laurel is placed between the two figures.
