Confederate Monument at Loudon Park Cemetery

Description

View of a Confederate monument at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland. The monument was sculpted by Frederick Volck (1833-1891) and features a Confederate soldier standing above a pair of young children, or possibly cherubs. A subsection of this cemetery has been federally owned since 1961 and is known as Loudon Park National Cemetery. This section holds the remains of over 2,000 Union soldiers and 650 Confederate soldiers killed during the American Civil War.
