Description

Looking north from the Federal Hill neighborhood at the Inner Harbor and downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Visible at center is the United Fruit Company's terminal located at Pratt Street Pier 1, whose vessels transported tropical fruit from the Caribbean to mainland United States ports. The tall spired building visible in the right background is the Hearst Tower Building, which stood at the southeast corner of East Baltimore and South Streets from 1911 to 1986 and housed the editorial and business offices of the "Baltimore News-American." Also visible at right is the dome of Baltimore's City Hall. The Art Deco building at left, located at 10 Light Street, was the tallest office building in the United States south of New York City when constructed in 1929.
