Excerpt from the diary of George M. Shriver


Four pages containing an entry dated October 1, 1887 from the diary of George McLean Shriver (1868-1942), vice president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. In this entry, Shriver discusses learning the birth date of Elizabeth M. Chism (1866-1935), the woman he is courting, and shares what he decides to buy for her as a gift. Shriver and Chism married the following year in 1888 and had five children.
