Gathering at Washington Monument

Description

A large crowd gathered in Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, Maryland, to welcome the arrival of the Marshal of France, Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre, and the French Mission. The base of the Washington Monument can be seen on the right and many spectators hold American flags. Joffre visited the city as part of a French delegation touring the country after the United States entered World War I.
