Group on porch of La Paix

Description

A group on the porch of La Paix, the summer home of the Lawrence Turnbull family, located on York Road near Sheppard Station in Towson, Maryland. Seated at left is Francese Hubbard Litchfield Turnbull (1844-1927) and sitting opposite of her is Lawrence Turnbull (1843-1919), her husband. Their son, Bayard Turnbull (1879-1954), stands behind Francese Turnbull. Designed by Baltimore architect John Appleton Wilson in 1885, La Paix was later home to authors F. Scott and Zelda Fizgerald from 1932 to 1933. It was razed in 1962 to clear land for St. Joseph Hospital.
