Group portrait in front of Smith house

Description

Group portrait of Serena Smith, Laura E. Ford, and Isabel Reeves on the front steps of the Smith house in Georgetown, Maryland. Serena Smith has a comb in her hair and the child is Isabel Reeves. The view of the house is obscured by trees. Also known as the Archibald Wright House, this building was joined to the William Henry House in approximately 1935 in order to form the Kitty Knight House. Supposedly, these two houses were saved from destruction by Catharine "Kitty" Knight (1775-1855) when the British attacked Georgetown in 1813 during the War of 1812.
