Horn, Powder

Description

Powder horn likely used during the French and Indian War (1754-1763). The horn is engraved with the name of Jonas Green (1712-1767), a printer born in Boston, Massachusetts. He settled in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1738 where he became the official printer for the state and published the Maryland Gazette beginning in 1745. He also served as the postmaster of Annapolis, and held several minor political appointments.
