Description

John Leeds Barroll to his wife Elleonora, from Richmond via the Flag of Truce Bureau. Barroll discusses the slow mail, the current state of the war and the soldiers from Kent County. John Leeds Barroll was in the Confederate capitol of Richmond, Virginia after having to leave Maryland due to publishing a newspaper article that was found treasonous by federal authorities. The Barroll family was a prominent Kent County family in the 19th and 20th centuries.
