Description

A letter from Annie Campbell Thomas, née Gordon, to her husband Dr. John Hanson Thomas, whom she refers to as "My dear Dr. Thomas." She signs the letter "Your devoted wife - ACT" and numbers the letter "No. 16." On September 12, 1861, Dr. Thomas was arrested, along with several other Maryland legislators, for his pro-Confederacy leanings. He was imprisoned for several months, during which time he and Annie wrote each other almost every day, from September 1861 to February 1862.
