Watercolor, pencil, pen, and ink on paper of "Lower End of the Falls of James River, Virginia", ca. 1796-1798, from the Latrobe Sketchbooks, by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. After emigrating to Virginia from England in 1796, Latrobe was hired to design the State Penitentiary in Richmond.
