No. 2 of Samuel Dobie’s inv. and del. for a Capital to be Built in the City of Washington

Description

Architectural elevation of the façade of the proposed Capitol Building. The building features a central rotunda and portico flanked by a two-story wing on each side. An eagle seal is placed in the frieze on the portico. Statues stand atop the corners of the building as well as the dome. Made for the Capitol Drawing Competition held by the United States government in 1792.
