Pleated crepe silk dress

Description

Black dress with a round neckline made of crepe silk pleated from the neck to the hem designed by Claire McCardell for the label 'Claire McCardell Clothes by Townley.' The dress has four round brass buttons at the front closure and a matching waist tie. Born in Frederick, Maryland, McCardell pioneered the creation of casual, comfortable American sportswear for women.
