Portrait of Edwin Clark Litchfield

Description

Daguerreotype portrait of Edwin Clark Litchfield (1815-1885), a New York lawyer and railroad contractor. Circa 1842, he married Grace Hill Hubbard (1819-1881), daughter of Hon. Thomas Hill Hubbard of New York. The couple were parents to: Mary Savage (1842-1843); Francese Hubbard (1844-1927), married Lawrence Turnbull; Edward Hubbard (1845-1930), married Madeline Middagh Sands; Henry Percy (1847-1919); and Grace Denio (1849-1944). Edwin Clark Lichfield was the grandfather of Grace Hill Turnbull (1880-1976), a painter, sculptor, and writer from Baltimore.
