Daguerreotype portrait of John Henry Carroll (1799-1856), son of Nicholas McCubbin Carroll (1751-1812) of Baltimore. In 1842 he married Matilda Hollingsworth (1818-1863), daughter of Horatio Hollingsworth of Baltimore (1796-1867). The couple were parents to Charles (1845-1855); and John Nicholas (1847-1926), married Mary Randolph Thomas.
