Rembrandt Peale Demonstrating Gas Light

Description

This six-panel painting depicts Rembrandt Peale (1778-1860) demonstrating the gas ring light to a group of seven people, as seen in the largest panel in the center. In the left panel a man is seated and conducting experiments with light, while in the right panel a man experiments with gas instruments. The bottom three panels contain painted text explaining the scenes.
