Ruins of Anderson and Ireland Hardware

Description

The ruins of Anderson & Ireland Hardware in Baltimore, Maryland, after the Great Baltimore Fire.

Verso transcription: Baltimore's business district was wiped out by the big fire of February 7 and 8, 1904. The picture, taken by J. E. Henry, 1433 Edmondson Avenue, shows the Anderson & Ireland Hardware Store at the northwest corner of Pratt and Light Streets. Because of powder and dynamite stored in the building, it was necessary to keep streams of water playing on it constantly, and the water froze.
