Saint James Episcopal Church

Description

View of St. James Episcopal Church located at 1020 West Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. The congregation was established in 1824 by Reverend William Levington (1793-1836), who was the third African American ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church of the United States. This was also the first African American congregation south of the Mason–Dixon line.
