Settee

Description

Twenty-first century reproduction of a settee designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe (1764-1820) and produced by the Finlay Brothers for President James Madison's oval office room. The original was destroyed in 1814 when the British set fire to the President's House. This full scale reproduction was based on Latrobe's original design "Drawing for a Sofa for the President's House" (1961.130.1.2) and produced by furniture makers Robert Graf and Robert Frey.
