Description

A copy of "The Fair Journal," issue number 5, dated April 6, 1866. In 1866, the Ladies’ Southern Relief Association of Maryland organized the Southern Relief Fair, a fundraiser to assist destitute citizens of the former Confederacy. The fair took place in Baltimore, Maryland, from April 2-11. The Fair Journal was published every day for the duration of the fair and included editorials, advertisements, and poetry.
