The Sherwood Distillery

Description

A view of the Sherwood Distillery located at the intersection of Ashland Road and York Road in Cockeysville, Baltimore County, Maryland. In 1882 the distillery began operation, producing Sherwood Pure Rye whiskey, a product named for the nearby Sherwood Episcopal Church. The business was owned by various people over the years, and continued production until 1919 when Prohibition took effect.
