Tolchester Beach Amusement Park pier and archway

Description

A view of the entrance archway located on the pier of the Tolchester Beach Amusement Park in Tolchester, Maryland. This Kent County park consisted of a bathing beach, amusement park, racetrack, and hotel, and was in operation from 1877 to 1962. It was a popular vacation destination for Baltimoreans as it was only 27 miles across the Chesapeake Bay and the Tolchester Steamboat Company ran daily excursions to Tolchester from Baltimore, Maryland. Two figures in white can be seen standing in front of the arch and the Excursion house is in the background.
