Tolchester southern entrance
Description
View of the southern entrance of the Tolchester Beach Amusement Park in Tolchester, Maryland. On the left stands a house, with a small shed to the right. This Kent County park consisted of a bathing beach, amusement park, racetrack, and hotel, and was in operation from 1877 to 1962. It was a popular vacation destination for Baltimoreans as it was only 27 miles across the Chesapeake Bay and the Tolchester Steamboat Company ran daily excursions to Tolchester from Baltimore, Maryland.
