Tolchester, view of hotel from lawn

Description

Side view of the hotel and its lunch room in Tolchester, Maryland. An adult sits on the porch and watches a child in front of the building. The hotel was part of the Tolchester Beach Amusement Park located in Kent County, Maryland. The park also consisted of a bathing beach, amusement park, and racetrack, and it was in operation from 1877 to 1962. It was a popular vacation destination for Baltimoreans as it was only 27 miles across the Chesapeake Bay and the Tolchester Steamboat Company ran daily excursions to Tolchester from Baltimore, Maryland.
