Trunk

Description

Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte’s (1785-1879) trunk is emblematic of her nomadic life which bounced between her two worlds of Europe and Baltimore. Throughout her life, Elizabeth moved from place to place, never establishing a permanent residence. On one side, the trunk is stenciled “Elizabeth Patterson,” but on the other it bears two labels that read, “Madame Bonaparte née Patterson.”
