Description

Broadside with 16 signatures (or marks) of those enrolling themselves in the militia of Maryland. The top of the broadside reads, "We the subscribers do hereby enroll ourselves to serve as Militia of Maryland, in the middle department, that is to say, from this province to New-York inclusive, until the fifth day of December next, unless sooner discharged by the honourable Congress, according to the resolutions of the Convention of Maryland, held at Annapolis the 21st day of June, 1776". The list is certified and signed by William Henry, who states he was appointed by the Committee of Observation for Kent County to review and examine the enlistees for their fitness to serve in the militia, with the certification dated "13th July 1776."
