Wristwatch

Description

Wind-up wristwatch with image of Spiro T. Agnew (1918-1996). The full-length caricature-styled image of Agnew depicts him wearing red, white and blue striped pants and shoes, a blue bandoleer with white stars, and red-gloved hands form the hour and minute hands. The 12, 3, 6, and 9 numerals are in medium blue, and blue stars mark the remaining positions. The watchband is comprised of multiple navy blue and white striped surrounding a wide central red-orange stripe. Baltimore County native Spiro T. Agnew was elected Baltimore County Executive in 1962 and Republican Governor of Maryland in 1966. Agnew's selection as the vice-presidential candidate by Richard Nixon and election victory in 1968 made Agnew a national figure. Entrepreneurs capitalized on both he and Nixon's image from the time they took office.
