Flooding at Tolchester pier

Description

Approximately five figures during a flood at the Tolchester Beach Amusement Park in Tolchester, Maryland. The back of the park's entrance archway and its pier on the Chesapeake Bay can be seen in the background. This Kent County park consisted of a bathing beach, amusement park, racetrack, and hotel, and was in operation from 1877 to 1962. It was a popular vacation destination for Baltimoreans as it was only 27 miles across the Chesapeake Bay, and the Tolchester Steamboat Company ran daily excursions to Tolchester from Baltimore, Maryland.
