The H. Furlong Baldwin Library has reopened. As of July 1, 2021 appointments are no longer necessary for Main Reading Room visits. Special Collections visits remains by appointment only.
Main Reading Room Hours
Wednesday – Friday and the second Saturday of each month, 10 am–5 pm
Mean Reading Room Collections include reference and history books, microfilm, and genealogical resources.
Special Collections Hours
Wednesday – Friday and the second Saturday of each month, 10 am—5 pm (by appointment only)
Special Collections include manuscripts, photographs, rare books and pamphlets, maps, and other archival materials.

The Maryland Center for History and Culture is closed on the following holidays: Easter Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Admission is FREE for members of the Maryland Center for History and Culture, and FREE for everyone on the First Thursday and Second Sunday of the month.
Museum admission will be free to the public on Saturday, October 1, 2022 as part of Doors Open Baltimore.

reciprocal visitors to mchc
Visitors with a reciprocal membership benefit through the Time Travelers, North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association, Greater Baltimore Historical Alliance (GBHA), or the Council of American Maritime Museums (CAMM) are granted free admission to the Maryland Center for History and Culture’s Museum and Library. In 2022 we are also offering special reciprocal offers through The Maryland Zoo. Membership cards must be active and presented at the time of visit. Learn more here.

MCHC is a proud member of Museums for All and Blue Star Museums free-admission programs. Free admission is applicable for the Museum ONLY and must be redeemed in person. Visit the program websites for more information about benefits and qualifications for each. Note: The Blue Star Museums program runs from Armed Forces Day in May through Labor Day each year.
